The end of December is a time for reflecting, for revisiting your goals and seeing how terribly you failed and for ignoring that immediately and focusing on all the amazing things you want to do in the next year before you get buried under all your ideas again.
Or is that just me?
I’m kind of terrible at remembering which books come out when or what I really want to read next but there are a few books I DO remember and REALLY want to read immediately, so I thought I’d use today’s Top 5 Wednesday and talk about them.
Feel free to remind me of the dozens I probably forgot, though.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
I love the Six of Crows duology with all my heart and I can’t wait to devour everything else Leigh Barudgo has written so of course I’m excited for this! Especially because some of my favourite characters of all time (Nina Zenik, the love of my life) will come back. Barudugo’s world of the Grisha is so fascinating and rich and unique and I’m sure I’ll love this new story of her’s!
Release: 28th January
On The Come Up by Angie Thomas
The Hate U Give is one of my favourite books…. maybe ever but certainly of the last few years and the blurb to Angie Thomas’ new story sounds just as interesting. I definitely can’t wait for this one and I’m sure it will make me cry.
Release: 5th February
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
I loved Children of Blood and Bone so much I haven’t even reviewed it yet (yes, this always happens with books I really like) so obviously, I look forward to reading this. The first book ended in such an interesting place and I want to see where the story goes so badly. It’s so cool and beautiful and I’m happy such an amazing author gets hyped!
Release: 5th March (no, there’s no proper cover yet)
The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare
Cassandra Clare is definitely one of my most read authors. She has written a lot of stuff and I have read most of it. Much even more than once. So obviously I want to read the beginning of a new series of her, especially considering that a) it’s about Magnus and Alec aka some of my favourite characters of hers and b) I love every new series of her more than the last and I very much hope that this trend continues. (Also, look at this cool cover!)
Release: 9th April
(Bonus Clare: Ghosts of the Shadow Market and Chain of Gold because this woman doesn’t do anything but write, apparently)
Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
We don’t have a specific release date for this one which slightly worries me and to be honest, I haven’t read a Rainbow Rowell book in years but I really liked them when I did and I so hope I will like this one too. I also really like the cover, it’s so damn dramatic and Baz looks very Harry Styles.
What are your most anticipated books of 2019? What books do you think I should check out?
See you soon ❤
